Hello! We arrived in Dar Es Salaam just two days ago and have been on the move ever since. We arrived in Nungwi Zanzibar yesterday. We stayed at the Luther hostel the first night and then woke up early to catch the ferry, we were surrounded by African men trying to get a commission on selling ferry tickets and it was quite intimidating I felt like they were herding us. The ferry was insanely fast and we decide to sit outside with the African women and children on a straw mat, not luxury. We arrived in Zanzibar and huddled our way onto a shuttle bus for less than $10 after being told there were none and we had to take a $60 cab. They sure can spot the tourists. The hour long drive here we drove through some serious poverty, but everyone was happy and the sense of community is overwhelming. Last night we passed out early, I fell asleep on a hammock over looking the Indian ocean until I was woken by a kite boarder. I am currently having breakfast tea over looking the ocean and it is very close to paradise, oh and also eating the cutest little banana ever!

Hey girls, we will follow you every day and hope you are well and happy. All very different from nice clean Canada, eh? Pat's daughter spent 3 months in Zambia some years ago and she had to tear herself away at the end, to a promised trip to a posh hotel near Victoria Falls. She said the wish for unlimited hot water had never been greater! Good luck. Big hugs. Our love goes with you.
